  13.            Do you do a lot of printing?  Are you tired of wasting paper?
  14.    Have you run out of room to put all those documents you have printed?
  15.    Then DucDump is the perfect solution.

  17.            Basically DocDump is a very good printing utility which
  18.    saves paper by printing four imes as much text on a page.  It does
  19.    this by printing in condensed fine mode and using its own special
  20.    drivers.

  23.    A Driver For Every Occassion
  24.    
  25.            DocDump only comes with a couple of printer drivers
  26.    (ANSIX3.64, EpsonFX80, EpsonX and OldDocDump2.1) but if you don't
  27.    have a compatable printer you can modify any one of the drivers or
  28.    create a new driver from scratch with the supplied documentation.
  29.    The printer drivers are actually just text files containing all the
  30.    information about the printer. The DocDump manual supplied contains
  31.    all the information you need to create your own printer driver.

  34.    GUI Replaces Prefs
  35.    
  36.            When you start up DocDump (from either CLI or WB) it brings
  37.    up its program window with all its options easily accessible. When
  38.    you have your options all set up the way you want them you can have
  39.    them saved in a configuration file. Some of the options you can
  40.    choose from are the following:
  41.    
  42.            Superscript/subscript - this chooses whether to use the top
  43.                    5 pins or the lower 5 pins on the print head.  This
  44.                    will mean that the printer ribbons life can be
  45.                    extended because only a thin strip of the ribbon is
  46.                    being used an when your print becomes too light you
  47.                    can switch to the other strip.
  48.            Wordwrap - there are 3 choices for the control of word
  49.                    wraps.  The first choice will just cut the word at
  50.                    the end of the line and put the remainder on the
  51.                    next line.  The second will move whatever won't
  52.                    wholly fit down to the next line.  The third will
  53.                    wordwrap and reformat the text so that instead of
  54.                    any words not fitting on a line taking up a line of
  55.                    their own this mode will continue the text on the
  56.                    same line as the wordwrap cutoff.
  57.            Paper type - choose from single or fanfold paper.
  58.            Chars/line - how many characters you want per line.
  59.            Title/Author/Date - these are used in booklet mode for a
  60.                    title page.

  62.    The Real Power
  63.    
  64.            The real power that sets this program far above others is
  65.    how it prints.  There are three print modes to choose from:
  66.    
  67.            Dump - prints 4 pages on a single sheet of paper in 4
  68.                    separate areas.  The top two pages on the sheet are
  69.                    1 & 2 with 3 & 4 underneath.
  70.            Column - prints 2 column on the page.  Great for program
  71.                    listings.
  72.            Booklet - this works out the number of pages and arranges in
  73.                    such a way that when you print on both sides of the
  74.                    paper you can cut out the pages and staple them in
  75.                    the middle to make a 5.5" x 4" booklet.  The
  76.                    resultant booklet is clear and easy to read and has
  77.                    a professional look to it.

  79.            Once you have chosen the settings for the program and
  80.    printed a document you will be impressed with the quality and not
  81.    want to go back to your old way of printing.

  83.    A Readable Manual!

  85.            The manual (on disk) that comes with DocDump is very well laid
  86.    out and very comprehensive. About a third of the manual is taken up
  87.    with instructions on creating your own printer drivers. There are
  88.    details on how the printed text will look when finished and also how
  89.    to create a finished booklet.

  91.            This is a very high quality program and even if you are
  92.    sceptical and think may be biased then go ahead and try it out.  You
  93.    can find DocDump on Megadisc Extras disk 32 and on Fish 800.  So have
  94.    a go and try it, you will not be disappointed.
